Robert's Baby Quilt
In February of 2002, I spent a great deal of time with my sewing needle in hand, making two baby quilts. One for a girl, and one for a boy. This is the quilt I made for Robert, the son of my co-worker Elizabeth.
The squares are 6 inches across, finished size, making the entire quilt 30 by 42 inches across. To keep things simple, and because I didn't have a lot of time to finish the quilt, I used a simple checkerboard pattern, then quilted a design into the solid colour. The design on this quilt is a teddy bear. The bear image design is actually a gingerbread man cookie cutter with ears I added myself. |
I wish I could show you a picture of the complete quilt. Unfortunately, the overview pictures I took of this and of Devon's quilt were underexposed, so you'll have to use your imagination. |

I used a burgundy backing fabric because I felt that the quilt was a little dark with all the green. The edging on the quilt is actually the backing fabric wrapped around to the front, folded over and stitched. This is not something I'd do again as the edging turned out less even than I'd like. Also, it makes the quilt difficult to repair if the edges wear out.
