So our Third Annual Superhero Party was a huge success, and pictures are available in our gallery here.
Me as The Flash, with my friend Tal as Golden Age Flash…
And my personal favourite, a photoshopped picture of our Best Costume Winner, Ron as Hellboy:
(Incidentally, Scott photoshopped in a bigger moon, and removed an extra wall, but he really was on our roof, the moon was really in the sky behind him, and his eyes really were glowing in the original shot.)
I want to thank everyone who turned out. The costumes this year were nothing short of amazing and it was nice to see everyone, too.
I would wax long and poetic about the reasons we throw this party and what it means and all of those things, but really, t! summed it up best when he said “this is the coolest club!”

I know I’ve been linking a lot of stuff from BoingBoing lately, but this one I just couldn’t resist:
Day jobs for Superheroes, a hilarious photoshopping contest.

Number of unmatched socks in my sock drawer: 16
I don’t know where they came from, either. I just thought “Wow, I should match some of these up”.
And they don’t match up.

I’m getting excited.
Our third annual superhero party is tomorrow and there’s been lots of enthusiasm about it this year.
Not that there hasn’t been enthusiasm in previous years, mind you. But this year it seems to have reached new heights. I’ve been talking to lots of people about their costumes and everyone’s excited. My costume is inches away from being finished (just waiting for some paint to dry) and Scott’s is already done.
All that remains is for us to clean up the house and organize a little. Our mural of Gotham city is going back up so we can take pictures, and we have to find places for all of the comics dialogue pages (we have quite a few entries for our contest this year!).
I can’t wait to read all of the contest entries. I can’t wait to see everyone’s costumes. I can’t wait for everyone to see my costume! I can’t wait until we’re all here and there’s a really cool costume party going on in my house!
Okay. Right. First things first. Housecleaning. Off I go.

I promised myself I’d clean out the fridge today. I’ve been costume shopping, and I have a million things to do before the superhero party on the weekend. So I sat down to check my e-mail and my cat jumped directly into my lap.
So maybe I’ll just sit here awhile. Cats always know best.

I actually found a copy of Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix in a store yesterday…
So of course I bought it, because I wanted it, and because I like to buy myself presents. And because I worked all weekend, which is an entirely different story.
I spent three hours with the Husband last night taking turns playing the game. I went to bed exhausted and fell asleep to visions of glowing arrows scrolling past my closed eyes.
Finally an Xbox game that I can like and not feel guilty about playing!
And of course the day I buy the game BoingBoing links an article on Kids losing weight playing DDR
My favourite part of the article is the line: “One possible down side, Adler said, is that DDR might cause discomfort in the joints of players who are heavy and have arthritis.”
You think the journalist might have been reaching to find a down side?

There were two black cats outside my window this morning, looking like they were having a chat down in the courtyard.
I’ve decided to take it as a good omen for the day.

So in my search for Dance Dance Revolution, which seems to be unavailable for the Xbox, I called EB Games to find out if they might perchance have a used copy anywhere around.
The one I called didn’t. But the clerk, one Paul by name, took my name and telephone number and told me he’d call the head office to see if their other stores had a copy.
I hung up the phone and thought no more of it. I’ve been through this before. They take your number and tell you they’ll look and then never call back, right?
Wrong.
Yesterday afternoon, Paul called back. The game is nowhere to be found in EB stores in Quebec or Ontario. Not new. Not used. Not in a package with the dance mat. He apologized sincerely very sincerely for not being able to get me a copy.
This is truly unprecedented. I called a store and got customer service. I don’t even really care that they didn’t find the game! They treated me like a real person!
Is that rare or what?
So if you need to do game shopping, people this is the place. They’re not even paying me for an ad, but I figure if I can slag the stores I hate in this blog, I should praise the ones that treat me well, and this one did.

How come you never taught me how to fold a t-shirt like this?
Yes folks, t-shirt origami. It looks so bizarre that I thought the video had been doctored somehow.
So of course, the first thing I did was run and get a t-shirt to try it out. It really does work.
(Unfortunately, whie the folding method works, the link only works in Internet Explorer. It’s worth opening up the other browser, though. Or if you see me any time soon, you can ask me to demonstrate.)
(And of course, you can blame BoingBoing for the link)
